Hello. I live on the Oregon coast, and I do some cat rescue. Today I received a call from a woman who is trying to find a good home for a purebread Abyssinian cat, around 4 years old. Apparently, the owner died a few days ago, and a kindly friend/neighbor named Marcie would like to find the cat a new home.
Marcie describes the cat as a spayed female, about 4 years old, deep orange shorthair, with a loving disposition, who has lived most of her life as an indoor cat. She craves human company and follows the friend around everywhere, but she tends to be territorial with other animals. Marcie thinks she would do best as an 'only cat.'
I have suggested to Marcie that she take publicity photos of the cat and write up some information to post, and I have advised her about how to advertise, etc. Since Marcie has no computer or internet access, I have offered to help her out with internet contacts, etc.
Please, if you become aware of anyone who might be able to offer this cat a good home, let me know.
Please also let me know if you know of someone who would be able to provide foster care for this cat. Marcie is currently caring for the cat in the home of the deceased owner and says she can't bring the cat into her own home because of her husband's allergies, and we are full to bursting here with our many animals.
Marcie is willing to travel a distance to find this cat the right home, so please don't rule out a potential good home on the basis of location.
Thanks very much!
