No, this is not about my own cats. The friend in the email below unfortunately has had to give away her kitties, because she is now pregnant (and according to the doctor she has no toxoplasmosis antibodies), and she is unfortunately currently unemployed (had a job, and got laid off shortly after she discovered she was pregnant... The company did NOT know she was pregnant, so it wasn't a layoff for that reason, either). She tried to get anyone she knew in the local area to take her kitties, and people either already have kitties of their own (such as in my case, and one of mine is already EXTREMELY territorial), or they have no interest in kitties.

If anyone is in the DC area (specifically Alexandria, VA), and looking for a pair of extremely friendly brothers (neutered), please look into this. If someone DOES pick up these kitties, please let me know (substitute yahoo in my email address), so I can re-assure her that her kitties have a good home.

She is normally the LAST person to do something like this. She's had cats all her life. But the toxoplasmosis fear, plus the current lack of income, has put her in a position that she cannot afford to be in.

While I know how people feel about people 'giving up their kitties' because they can't afford them, please understand, when she got her kitties she was in a good work environment and not pregnant. If it were just the pregnant part, she'd just get her husband to clean the kitty boxes, but with her being unemployed, and having difficulty with her health insurance to begin with, she just can't afford to risk it. Since she IS pregnant, many companies aren't giving her a chance now.

If she knew someone had taken in her kitties, she'd be ever so grateful.

Hey folks,

Having received no response to my cry for help regarding my two 2 kitties(2 years old each, brothers, and sweet as can be), Tom and I had to take them to the shelter in Alexandria today.

I have never had to do this in my life, and I can't begin to describe how awful it was, and is. If you, or ANYBODY you know might be able to adopt one or both of my babies, PLEASE send them to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, kitty numbers 20569 & 20570.

If you think it would help to crosspost this anywhere, please do so wherever you think it best. These babies don't deserve to be put down, but they're competing with more than 20 kittens at 8 weeks old, and I am scared for them. And if you or anybody you know adopts them, please call me so I can stop crying over their possible future.

Liz, heartbroken, pregnant, unemployed, and at her wits' end.

Yes, I'm top posting, and responding to my own message.

However, I wanted to thank whomever it was that saw this message and picked the two boys up... The rescue service said they are now in a happy home, and still paired together...

Liz is very much relieved to know they not only went to a good home, but together... and wanted to thank whomever it was who let this family know that these two were good for a good home...
