For me, one of the most admirable things about this newsgroup has been its consistent focus on canine rescue. While I do not believe that mission has suffered in the last two weeks, it has been unfortunate to see one good person after another degraded, and then drawn into a pointless exchange with an individual who never had any genuine desire for help with a canine problem. One by one, I've seen people, who I respect and trust, give in and begin using the same tone and language that was being spewed at them.

In my humble opinion, that person hasn't done any harm to anyone. Some of us have harmed our own selves by compromising our values, by participating in this pathetic exchange, but that was a matter of choice. Very obviously, the individual on the other side of the exchange has not been influenced in any positive way.

A person can not be helped, unless they genuinely want to be helped. Also, we can not be affected emotionally by anyone who means nothing to us. I think it's apparent that no one here means anything to the individual on the other side of this infamous exchange.

certain it's from a person who doesn't genuinely want any help with a dog problem and can not be influenced by you. Therefore, for the sake of this newsgroup's integrity, I encourage you to ignore posts from that e-mail address. If you can't ignore that e-mail address, please, filter it out.

So, when is enough, enough: in this case, about a week ago. Wasn't it?

I've tried to be clear objective and non-confrontational here. So, whether you agree or not, please, Do Not respond to this post-except by making a personal commitment to Not feed trolls.

Thank you for listening.

I saw her early posts as a chance to make smart ass comments about my own two unruly Shih Tzu and Sophie the Non Tzu not being able to pass a CGC test. Nothing to do with her or her dog actually.

smart ass comments about my own two

Yes, I understand; I even grinned when I saw the title, 'Non Tzu.' I'm grinning now! I don't mind admitting, I enjoy a little levity here, because, by nature, dog rescue is a rather serious matter. But on 2-23, John Fields made an especially valid point: essentially, new comers to this newsgroup might be repulsed by some of the things that have gone on here recently.

Of the thousands of news groups, most are for the benefit of humans. This newsgroup is for the benefit of dogs. They deserve our best, which means keeping this news group sharp.

On 2-23 MaryBeth wrote, '...Really. it's like she thinks she's making *any* kind of difference here.' In fact, I've rarely seen anyone make as much difference as Victoria Franco has made. I'm no saint and no prude, but just look at the bad, or weak, sides she caused some of us to reveal. A lot of people have said things, and used tones, I never expected from them. I don't think any less of them, of course, but I am reminded of how human we all are.

For the record, it was difficult for me to ignore 'Tori,' when she began taking shots at individuals I rely on for factual guidance; but I realized almost immediately that there is no way for any of us to reach Tori. For me, it's neither fun nor humane to duel with an unarmed person.

I'm not sure who said this, but I totally agree: 'Ignore trolls, and they just won't stay.'

This is just my opinion.

i, for one, LOVE the tone YOUR posts always convey. you are almost always respectful, willing to consider another point of view, you share your personal experiences from your difficult job that many of us couldn't do on a daily basis, AND you have a nice vocabulary.

i stopped following tori's comments early on, so if you proved me wrong in that thread, i wouldn't know it. LOL
