Hi,
We have a group of like minded folks here in Northern VA who are looking into what is entailed in starting our our group to help unwanted German Shepherd dogs.
Can anyone recommend any good books or lend any helpful advice about useful websites etc.? I have always been a 'worker bee' for other groups, but have never been involved in actual organizational aspect of things.
We realize that we are in for a tremendous amount of work, but it is something that is long overdue in this area and we have a good group folks who are willing to give it a go. Any constructive input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much!
Yours in dogs and rescue,

I recommend that you contact Maryland German Shepherd Rescue: I am sure these folks would be glad to share a lot of information about starting a GSD Rescue for Northern Virginia. It *might* be a good idea if your group could start out working with the Maryland group to get some experience about how to run a rescue. Then you would be in a better position to organize your own rescue.
Please do contact the Maryland rescue and ask *lots* of questions. I feel sure that they would be more than glad to assist you in getting your rescue
