Hello again, everybody!

I wanted to thank everyone who offered their help, advice and concern about our FIV-positive cat that we were trying to find a home for. After many web postings and phone calls and stress and tears, we've decided to keep her. We got so attached to her! Plus I think the stress of taking her away and putting her somewhere new might not be the kindest thing we could do. So we're working on a solution that lets her stay here with us.

Right now she's still living in the bathroom, and seems perfectly happy there, but we are slowly introducing her to Bud, our healthy cat.

Bud, who weighs about 16 pounds, appears terrified of her (Did I mention that she is maybe 8 pounds?). She appears to hate his guts. So this should be interesting. We are following the usual introduction procedures, and are taking it very slow, distracting them with catnip when they get too worked up. Wish us luck! We'll probably keep their food, water and litter boxes separate for now. Since Gray-Gray only has one tooth (the poor old thing!), we figure the chances of her biting Bud are somewhat reduced, and if they can reach a truce, I'll be happy.

I received many helpful e-mails and postings with suggestions, phone numbers, and firsthand advice, which is the most valuable in many cases. I really appreciate it. I knew there were cat lovers out there, but not that they would all be so willing to lend a hand! Thank you all so much!

Don't be fooled she'll find a way to use that tooth is she opts to. I am owner to many a toothless cat. You are wonderful for keeping her. Good Luck Twyla Jane

Raeanne,

That is so great you decided to keep her. I'm sure everything will go well. I seriously doubt your cats will draw blood. I've owned multiple cats over 20 years, including the FIV one I wrote you about, and it never came to that.

Again, if you need advice or support, please e-mail me. You're doing a wonderful thing.
