2 weeks ago, I found a newborn kitten on the street, and decided to take it in and nurse it till he's old enough to eat on his own. He's been doing just fine, except for the fact that his one eye will not open! I am very concerned. I have tried to rub around it with a warm wet clothe, but I've only gotten as far as green gunk coming out. The eye seems sealed shut.
The eye does not seem to bother him at all. He is very playful, he rolls on his back and swings his paws in the air. His appetite is normal.
Does anyone have some advice on what to do?

I really think you should take him to the vet for street cats there are many vets that won't charge you for giving antibiotics for the eye.
If the infection remain untreated it can cause complications for him later.
You are really doing a very nice thing saving this kitten life.

Ask the vet about the poop he is supposed to poop at two weeks.
I cross my fingers for both of you

Hi Evelyn!

Thanks for all the advice!
I decided to wait another day to see how the eye was, before heading to the vets. I kept wetting it with a warm clothe every so often, and just a while ago, I noticed there was some crust, that was keeping the eye from opening. I managed to get half of it off, and part of the eye opened!
I'm soo happy. And Elmo is amazed that he can see from both sides!
Its pretty cute.
So thank you again!

You are so much more courageous than I am! I'm not a very brave person with it comes to caring for kittens at such a young age.
But you are doing a great job. What do you plan to do with him in a few weeks time?

Well i'm going to keep him for a few weeks, and then i'll try to find him a home.
I know plenty of foster homes that would be willing to take him also.

Heres a picture of him at feeding time, before his eye opened.

Hi is sooo sweet.
BTW it is possible to upload photos directly to the forum now and if you want to tell animals stories I can open for you the writing on the blog option.
You must have lots of stories and this is a nice place to tell them
