Our 2 year old brown/black neutered DLH (he has tabby markings, a tan colored belly and white chin and neck)has been missing since the evening of Wednesday, October 23, 2002! We live in Munster (20 minutes ouside of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). I'm posting on here (again) almost 2 years later because we've had sightings of him in Richmond, ON (just outside of Ottawa, in the rural west-end about 5km from Munster where our cat went missing from). Every time we've put up new posters of him in the local stores, we get people from Richmond calling us with reports of 'sightings'. If Rothy really is living as a stray in the nearby town, how do you recommend that I catch him? I geuss I could rent a humane trap, park the car nearby and wait for hours. Any other suggestions? We've done everything we can so far to try to find him. Neighbours have told us that 'fisher cats' have been known to kill cats..is this true? What wild animals in this area might be likely to kill a cat?? He weighed about 12 lbs before he went missing, is usually a 'loner-type' nervous cat around other animals but is very friendly and vocal with people. His name is Rothy (although he may not respond to the name). If you see him, have seen him, have seen a cat who may be him, or know any info at all about what may have happened to him please contact me at 613-560-5894 or email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Thanks so much for any help!

Maggie,

Is there someone who has seen him near their area, willing to put out food and keep an eye out for him? If they could keep food and water available, maybe he'd stay nearby and be easier to catch.

How about putting some of your clothing out, too? Maybe sleep in a t-shirt to make sure your scent is on it, then leave it out for him.

Good luck catching him. Let us know what happens.

I'm very sorry to hear that you lost your cat. I hope that you can find it again very soon!!

If anyone else reads this from around the Munster area, my Mom's cat disappeared about a week and a half ago. We live in Munster as well. She has an orange and black/white pattern on her fur, she is overweight (probably 17 pounds or so) with tiny little white feet. She is also not a young cat (I am not sure about how old she is). She doesn't respond to her names as she had a different one with a previous owner, and she doesn't have a collar.

I am using her picture for my profile avatar pic. If anyone sees her, please e-mail me (Ash) at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Thank you very much. I think that finding her would mean the world to my family.

have you tried the local shelters or vets?
I know that when I find a lost pet I usually inform the local shelters.
Without a collar there's a risk that people think she doesn't belong to anyone but I do wish you would find her
