Hi, Rick. This usegroup is set up for discussion, rather than active rescue with placement. So here's how to find the right folks. Go to the AKC web clubs site at
http://clubs.akc.org Scroll down to the Working Group. Find the two breeds' clubs, and click on those to get the contact information for their rescue coodinator (by any other name). Contact those people.... but make sure you giv e your full name, home address, email address and phone number(s). Tell them a bit about you and your family, Why you feel a Giant or Standard would be a good pet for you. Ask for adoption information and an application.
I know that Giant Schnauzer rescue is quite active; a friend who has had Giants makes certain that if there is a Giant identified in shelters in our state or neighboring states, she forwards the information to the appropriate workers... since she can't do fostering or rehabilitation right now, with pre-school twins in the house! Another friend has a rescued GS. I'm certain that the Standard folks are just as involved.
Good luck!
