I cannot believe you find this whole subject so funny

We've all heard numbers thrown at us on the nightly news- hundreds of murders and thousands of car crashes. When you look at the problem of cat overpopulation, however, the numbers escalate into the MILLIONS.

The Humane Society of the United States reports that in 1996 in the United States there were 66.2 million pet cats in approximately 31.5 million households. This works out to be about 2.1 cats per home in the United States. No big deal, right? Well the number of pet cats is thought to be equal to the number of stray and feral cats wandering the country. This number is consistently growing as more than 50,000 puppies and kittens are born daily in the United States ALONE. To put that in comparison, there are only 11,000 human children born in the US each day. There are simply not enough homes for the excess of companion animals in this country.

The loss of life in this situation is tremendous. Estimates are that between 10-15 million companion animals (cats and dogs) are euthanized in animal shelters and rescue organizations each year. This comes down to one animal being euthanized every 1.5 seconds each day, every day. This fact is mind boggling. As long as it takes you to read this section, close to ten animals or more will be put to sleep. It is thought that the make-up of these euthanized animals is roughly 50% dogs and 50% cats, although recent studies may prove otherwise. A National Pet Alliance study indicates that at one of the largest shelters in the country has a four to one ratio of euthanized cats to dogs.

Shelters do their best to find homes for these animals or return them to their owners; however, cats are specifically hard to place. Many people also do not place identification tags on their pets so less than 4% of cats in shelters are returned to their owners.

So where do all these excess and unwanted cats go?

Talesin, they are incapable of acknowledging these facts, and the fact that Wintershard behaved in an irresponsible manner, simply because of who you are.
